In The Blonde in the Thunderbird, Somers talks intimately about her early life and her struggle to become the person she is today. The show, was written and directed by Ken and Mitzie Welch.
The Blonde in the Thunderbird opened on July 17 to mostly negative reviews. Eric Grode in his Broadway.com Review wrote: "One-woman musicals require more than sparkle and resiliency. They also require more than a little talent, which makes the shoddily constructed The Blonde in the Thunderbird the title comes from Somers' tiny role in American Graffiti a grim, at times excruciating evening."
